The corona virus has set out a huge task for India, which is as populous as China, but has a much weaker organizational structure. India must wake up early, and grease the machinery of social organizations, for effective control of the virus. The corona virus has adequately demonstrated that it has all the potential, to destroy the entire population of a huge country, and leave its economy devastated.
India has several language, social and cultural barriers, and a unified effort across all organization levels, is needed to combat this disease. The administration, should workout modalities, to ensure that the disease is identified early, and extinguished early.
The BIG MISTAKE of China was to pretend and down play the disease. That gave ample time for the disease to spread far and wide, and to strangulate and choke the healthcare systems, across China.
The disease mortality rate is low and was estimated as around 2%. The estimate made a BIG ASSUMPTION, that there are "First Class" treatment facilities available to ALL PATIENTS. The spread of the disease is HUGE. The estimated R0 of 2.5 may be a LOW ESTIMATE.
These comments were not meant to undermine India, or its healthcare systems, but based on what was observed in China, it may be concluded that "The disease is killing the HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS, and once these are saturated or down, people are left to die, due to lack of treatment".
By the grace of God, India got an opportunity to protect itself, and let us hope, we will all use it wisely, and pass these difficult times, unaffected.
